I was introduced to this new invention – the “Gummy Floss”. No doubt an original patent which, as a proto type, seems to have the following advantages: May remove more plaque from the interproximal area for its larger contact surface. Can vary in diameter and hence fit various widths of interproximal areas. Does not cause bleeding following penetration of the contact point. Easy to use, and hold. Colorful and attractive. Can be used by any age if taught to do so. If tears, does not leave any filaments in between the teeth. Has the potential of adding flavors to the “Gummy Floss”. Has the potential of adding fluoride, CHX etc. Said all the above, I have no doubt that this interesting and unique patent has a great potential to develop into a leading primary prevention device in dentistry.
